PLEASE READ ARLO’S BIO IN FULL AND ONLY SUBMIT AN APPLICATION IF YOU MEET ALL THE STATED CRITERIA, WHICH ARE NOT OPEN TO NEGOTIATION
We’re looking for an active, dog-loving foster home for Arlo with the possibility to adopt.
Arlo will initially be placed on a foster basis. Should his foster family wish to adopt him following his neuter (vet advisory) and assessment period, they are welcome to apply — an adoption fee of £350 will apply.
All costs during foster are fully covered by us, including vet care, food (if needed), and we provide fosterers with full support.
About Arlo:
Arlo is a sweet, energetic, and playful young Goldendoodle who’s looking for a new start after his owner could no longer meet his exercise needs due to injury. He’s curious, social, and affectionate — a young doodle ready to thrive in the right environment.
Personality & Temperament:
Friendly and sociable with visitors and family
Good with children (has spent time with visiting children as young as 3), but due to his size and bouncy nature, children aged 8+ only
Enjoys the company of other dogs — can live with a well-matched, calm, neutered/spayed dog (vet evidence required) subject to successful introductions
No history of aggression, guarding, or behavioural concerns
Has some basic training needs, particularly recall (he is not currently let off lead)
Is not used to being left for more than an hour or two, irregularly
Not cat tested
Loves human company and being part of family life
Favourite Activities:
Chasing balls and frisbees (though he prefers not to return them!)
Outdoor play and doggy social time
Walks and sniffing adventures
He travels well and settles calmly in the car (though he needs help getting in)
Home Life & Needs:
House-trained and crate-trained. Annual vaccinations will be arranged whilst in foster
Sleeps in the living room but would be happy to sleep on his bed in your bedroom!
Has poor recall - currently walks on-lead
Will thrive in a home where someone is around most of the time, or where he can come along with you. Will not suit a home where he will be left for more than a couple of hours, irregularly
Direct access to a fully secure private garden is essential
Work-from-home is suitable if you can regularly engage him with walks, training, enrichment and companionship throughout the day. Note that he cannot be left shut away in a different room to you, or crated, while you work
To Be Considered for Arlo:
You must be in a position to meet and foster Arlo without delay
Children must be aged 8+ and supervised; they must be kind and respectful with dogs
You must be willing to have Arlo neutered when advised
No holidays booked in the next 3 months unless you can take Arlo with you. Arlo must remain in the care of his fosterers throughout his foster period.
Arlo is not used to being left for more than an hour or two, infrequently
You must have no other unneutered/unspayed dogs in the home (vet evidence of neuter will be required)
Experience with doodles preferred
All household members (and resident dog[s]) must be available to meet Arlo in Birmingham prior to him coming into foster
You must be fit and active, and prepared for a high-energy young dog with the potential to live 12–15 years if adopted
Doodle Rescue only supports positive, force-free training methods – no aversive techniques permitted. Doodles are highly sensitive dogs which respond very well to encouragement, praise and reward
Those who know these dogs will know that doodles are highly sensitive dogs which can easily be sent into a “tail spin” if subtle signs of anxiety are missed and if resultant “behaviours” are mishandled. We expect our fosterers and adopters to employ positive, reward based training techniques which these dogs respond well to. We categorically do not support and will not tolerate the use of aversive, punitive “training techniques”.
Doodle Rescue is run by a small team of volunteers. We regret that we are unable to respond to unsuccessful applicants individually. If your application has been shortlisted to the next stage of our vetting process, or if we require additional information to enable us to fully consider your application, one of our volunteer admin will contact you via Facebook Messenger, by email or by phone/SMS within 3 days of your adoption application form submission. If you do not hear from us within this time frame, regrettably your application has been unsuccessful on this occasion. We endeavour to provide sufficient information in each dog’s adoption bio to give an overview of our assessment of the dog and the required criteria to be considered to adopt the dog, to enable interested parties to assess suitability before submitting an adoption application. We regret that at this early stage of our vetting processes it is not possible for our volunteer admins to respond to requests for further information on a dog available for foster or adoption since – with limited resources and time - we must prioritise finding the right home for the dog and we are grateful for your understanding in this matter. We regret that we are unable to enter into any correspondence with unsuccessful applicants or with those who are considering submitting an application but who have not yet done so. Note: due to GDPR we do not retain unsuccessful applications on our system and a new application will need to be submitted for any other available dogs
Please be aware that our vetting processes are thorough to ensure the welfare of the dogs and by submitting an application you are agreeing to cooperate with our processes, which will include a home check and references.
