Personality

Barney is affectionate, playful, and adoring of his special people. He’s a smart boy who enjoys training and a variety of walks – long, sniffy ones as well as sociable walks where he can meet and play with other friendly dogs. He is a very easy boy who will happily accompany you for pub lunches and to dog friendly cafes, where he will settle calmly under the table. He loves everyone he meets on walks and seems to quite enjoy having a fuss made of him (particularly, we suspect, if treats are involved!) Wherever you are, he’ll want to be too. Barney is good at the vets and groomers (he welcomes them with a smile and a wagging tail!) and has responded really well to training whilst in foster to address a little bit of low level travel anxiety. He would do best in a home where he will not be left often or, infrequently, for longer than a few hours. This would make his little heart brim with happiness. Barney is used to sleeping in his owner’s bedroom, on their bed, and he is such an easy going little dog that we would hope this will not be an issue for his new family.

Ideal Home

Barney would suit someone who enjoys quite an active lifestyle and who is eager to involve their dog in all aspects of family life.

He’d do best in a home:

  • ‍ ‍With ample time throughout the day for exercise, enrichment and cuddles

  • With calm, experienced dog owners who can instil confidence

  • Happy to continue his recall training using positive, reward based methods only

  • Without cats

  • Where any children are aged 10+ and calm and respectful around dogs

  • Where he won’t be left often, and then only for a few hours

  • Perhaps another well matched, neutered/spayed non-guarding neutered/spayed dog
